Henrie was born in Nyanga , Zimbabwe on 9 th April 1978 . He is of the Manyika tribe which reside in Eastern Zimbabwe boarding on Maputo . He is a very proud Christian and tells me he does not consume any alcohol.
He lives in Harare and has a travelling visa which allows him entry into South Africa for only 30 days at a time.
Henrie obtained his ‘O’ Levels at the Kriste Mambo Secondary School in Rusapes which is 40kms from Nyanga. He then studied Animal Husbandry at the African University in Umtali where he specialised in Poultry. Once qualified, Henrie purchased chickens and managed his own chicken farm supplying hotel restaurants in Harare with eggs and baby chickens. The adverse conditions in Zimbabwe have forced him to down size his poultry farm so that his family can run it in his absence.
Henrie has always enjoyed painting pictures but his passion lies in stone carving from which he now earns a sustainable living. He signs all his pieces under a pseudonym ‘McHenrie’.
